My Life Long Love for Travel

Going on trips is one of my favorite hobbies. It doesn’t matter the destination, duration and what we are doing.

It All Started with Disney.

Growing up we went to Orlando every year since I can remember for the flooring supply industry convention. Convention always fell around my birthday. Most years we got to spend my birthday in Disney! Imagine being in “The Most Magical Place on Earth” to celebrate your birthday! Let me tell you it was amazing.

That is where the love began. This love got stronger the more places we went. One of the top three trips of my life was the trip across country. Dad, Mom, Tina, Derek and I went in an oval shape across the country in a motorhome. Driving allows you to see this great nation we live in.

Lots of amazing trips have happened since the trip across country. Over time I will share them for sure.

2020

2020 didn’t plan out to be the year that anyone imagined. Needless to say my love of travel was put on hold until at least May. Oak Island, NC wasn’t allowing anyone who didn’t own a house on the Island. The first weekend family was allowed my Mom and I headed to the beach. We went to visit “Aunt Sherry” in Oak Island.

Oak Island, NC

I went to Oak Island more in 2020 than I have in I couldn’t tell you when. Aunt Sherry is so amazing and allowed me to come visit while Shannan and the kids were there too. When I am around any of my cousin’s kids I always turn into a kid myself.

Labor Day came and went. Luckily Aunt Sherry came through again for me and allowed my friends and I to go visit her house. Lucky for us girls those walls can’t talk. I truly don’t think that Oak Island was ready for us. That weekend brought a new meaning to girls weekend for me.

During girls weekend I had just started my love for Tiktok. The “Can I pet that dog?” was popular. Add alcohol and that is all that I would say. It was said so much my friends wanted me to shut up.

Speaking of TikTok that is how I made a road trip to Jacksonville, NC. I had never been there and met a friend from TikTok so off I went on a road trip alone. There is something about driving along with the music blasting. Just taking my time driving looking around while singing along.

After my road trip to Jacksonville, NC I traveled to see my friend in Chesapeake, VA. Jason is a friend that I meant working the Easyriders Bike Show with my Dad. Every year he would come visit and we would catch up. Not having seen him much in years. I took a day and drove up.

Have you ever met someone and connected immediately? Well that is what happened over a Zoom call with Meg. On TikTok someone got the bright idea to do a Zoom call. From that Zoom call I realized a lot of things. Most importantly was that Meg and I thought exactly alike.

Having a voucher that had to be used before November and having met Meg, I decided to go on a trip. We had a BLAST. People thought we had known each other our whole lives. We had so much fun that while there we started planning my next trip up.

Thankfully 2021 has had some amazing trips already! The plan was Nashville the first week of August and I was super excited! Then I got diagnosed with covid so those plans quickly changed!
